Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
